Mind your mother!

After celebrating all the fabulous Moms in my life this past weekend, I can't help but think of the amazing gifts that Mothers pass on to their children - compassion, wisdom, strength - just to name a few. Since May is not only the month in which we honor Mothers, but also the National Osteoporosis Foundation's (NOF) Osteoporosis Awareness and Prevention Month, this year's theme "A Gift from Mothers to Daughters" is especially fitting. It addresses the fact that Mothers have the ability to foster better bone health in their children. Since osteoporosis has a strong genetic component, Moms owe it to themselves and their children to get tested for osteoporosis and also to teach their daughters that Healthy Bones are a Balancing Act.
