Once a nutritional taboo, fats have gained a great deal of respect in the past few years. The key lies in the type of fat. Omega-3 fatty acids have proven their virtue as research indicates they may decrease the risks of heart disease, stroke, autoimmune disorders, certain types of cancers, and even osteoporosis. Make Your Own Cocoa
Adora Calcium Tip of the MonthOne of the purest forms of chocolate goodness is natural cocoa powder which results when cocoa butter is removed from chocolate liquor (the ground up nib of a cocoa bean). Natural cocoa powder is very bitter, so "Dutch" processing is often utilized to give cocoa a milder flavor. However, this process of treating cocoa with alkali can reduce the amount of powerful antioxidants. While most cocoa drink mixes contain Dutch cocoa, you can whip up your own healthy concoction using natural cocoa and a bit of sweetener. Check out our Make Your Own Cocoa Mix recipes, or if you are feeling adventurous like fellow "circle of health" reader, Anna, simply warm a cup of soy milk, drop in a disc of Adora Calcium, and stir until melted for a delicious antioxidant and calcium-rich treat
