Super Easy Apple Crisp Recipe

Ingredients
6-7 medium apples (enough for 4 cups chopped)
3 Tbsp. sugar
1 Tbsp. lemon juice
Vegetable cooking spray
1 cup oats
1/2 cup firmly packed brown sugar
1/3 cup flour
1/4 cup margarine, melted
1-2 tsp. cinnamon*

Directions

  • Preheat the oven to 375 degrees.

  • Thoroughly wash and then peel the apples (you can leave a little peel for extra texture)

  • Core the apples and then cut them into pieces about 1" in size

  • In a large bowl combine the chopped apples, sugar, and lemon juice.

  • Spray a baking dish (8x8 or 10x12) with a little cooking spray, and then add the apple mixture.

  • Combine the oats, brown sugar, flour, melted margarine, and the cinnamon, and sprinkle the mixture over the apples in the baking dish.

  • Put the dish into the oven and bake for 30 minutes or until golden brown. Makes 8-9 servings.

Serve warm with vanilla frozen yogurt or a dollop of Cool Whip.

Left-over apple crisp makes a delicious topping for plain oatmeal.

*EDITOR'S NOTE: The amount of cinnamon you use is a matter of preference. I tend to use more because cinnamon has been shown to help lower cholesterol and blood sugar.
