A Note from the Nutritionist
Let's hear it for the boys!

Since we celebrated Father’s Day this month, I realized that the “circle of health” has not give much attention to men’s osteoporosis risk. Of course this is a newsletter designed for women, but let’s face it, as wives, mothers, and friends, women tend to take care of the males in their lives. So ladies, I am making it your personal mission to gently remind the men you know and love that they need to take care of their bones. If there are any guys reading out there, I am glad you are taking the time to learn more about your health. This issue is dedicated to you!

June marks the official start of summer and that means showing a lot more skin – great for vitamin D production, not always so great for the self-esteem. If you are looking for a fun, motivating way to get in shape and feel better in your summer shorts, have I got the prescription for you. – Michelle Gibeault Traub, R.D.

Focusing on the Male Frame
Men get osteoporosis too

Although women are definitely in the spotlight when it comes to bone health and osteoporosis risk, males are not totally in the clear. [Learn more about osteoporosis risks in men.]

Burn Baby Burn
How your favorite tunes can get you fit

So maybe "Disco Inferno" isn't your thing, but music really has the power to get you moving. If you've got dance fever, here is your prescription for a better body and stronger bones. [Get tips on building healthier bones through dance.]

ADORA TIP OF THE MONTH!
Blast Fat on the Beach

Adora CalciumEvery summer millions of people head for the beach. If you are among the many relaxing by the shore, don't just sit there - get moving. The extra resistance from the sand makes walking on the beach an excellent workout for your lower body and a great way to burn calories and strengthen your bones. Keep yourself motivated by bringing along your favorite tunes. And, when you get back to your blanket reward yourself with an Adora Calcium (kept in the cooler of course so the creamy chocolate doesn't melt). After all, calcium has also been shown to help burn fat. The beach, strong bones, and chocolate - what's not to love?
